OBJECT_DESCRIPTION_EN :
This is part of a set of puppet characters that stand in for the actors in certain scenes during the performance.
This text, written in France by an unknown author and dating back to the end of the medieval period, is a comedy of manners in which a crooked lawyer tries to trick a merchant into buying some fabric. With no intention of paying for it, the characters become involved in a plot that generates great comedy, also revealing the personality of a character type, satirized at the time, which includes the lawyer, the merchant, the merchant's wife, and the shepherdess.
It is interesting to note that this unfolding takes place with similarities between the costumes of the actors and the puppet characters, where sometimes the counterpoint occurs by having an actor character exit and the same character enter as a puppet, accentuating the comedy of the show. This show was performed in the form of street theater, integrating various programs and artistic contexts.
