OBJECT_DESCRIPTION_EN :
Belonging to a group of puppets with similar characteristics, this figure symbolizes on the one hand a mortal sin (Pride) and on the other a figure also from the history of Portugal (D. Pedro), presented in the castle of Santa Maria da Feira, in a show with a historical context.
It was manipulated by an actress, standing on her, and the interpretation worked in conjunction between the two characters, actress and puppet. Dom Pedro and Dona Inês de Castro are the figures represented by the puppet and the actress respectively.
The puppet explores a large physical space and, having no legs, moves with the support of the actress. The manipulator controls the puppet through holes in its head where he places his fingers, and controls the upper limbs directly. Since it has no mouth articulation, speech is suggested by the movement of the head. Being a large-scale puppet, the quality of the physical movement also imprinted the character that accentuated its personality.
