OBJECT_DESCRIPTION_EN :
This show, deeply inspired by the protection of the environment, relates this woman guardian to the natural space and to the animals that are part of this universe, that she cares for and protects.
The puppeteer holds the head mechanism with her right hand, which has a trigger that allows her to close the character's eyes. With her other hand, she controls the puppet's left hand. Occasionally, a second puppeteer aids the manipulation of the right hand, and of the torso, by means of a rod added at the time for this purpose during specific scenes. This duo allows for more complex movements, reinforcing the realistic quality of the puppet's performance.
The main manipulator controls the head, allowing for a wide range of expressions and movements. The secondary manipulator, who controls the torso and right hand, focuses on body language and gestures that complement the head movements, creating a cohesive and believable representation of the character's emotions and actions.
The figure is mostly hinged on the actress' costume, using her body, whenever necessary, to support the manipulation of the puppet. The character, however, is an ethereal element, admittedly without legs, reinforcing its mythical nature.
Whenever possible, light but resistant materials were used to allow fluid movements and maintain the puppet's ethereal appearance.
For the puppet's arms, materials collected from the natural environment of Peneda-Gerês were used, thus creating a symbolic belonging to that space.
OBJECT_CONTEXT_EN :
This puppet, which is executed on a human scale, symbolizes the guardian of Peneda-Gerês. The name Aurora carries significant symbolism, associated with dawn, rebirth, and the beauty of nature. This choice of the show's name and main character is linked to the natural world and the beginning of life. Aurora initially finds herself in a cocoon under a tree, symbolizing the seed of the earth. When she reveals herself to the audience, she lets them know that her costume is an integral part of this same cocoon, symbolizing the birth of the earth and its inherent connection to the natural environment of Peneda-Gerês.
